According Nintendo president Satoru Iwata in a Japanese newspaper reveal the company will stick by its current hardware even after their next generation console. codenamed "Revolution", arrives. It is unclear however, whether Iwata's comments mean the company will continue to support the console from a software basis or if they simply plan to supply the hardware as long as their is a demand within the industry.
Nintendo's "Revolution", which is expected to be revealed at next year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, will mark a new era in gaming according to the company. The system will focus on providing new ways to interact with the system and new forms of gameplay instead of focussing on increased graphical and processing power.
