Gamesindustry.biz is reporting that Twentieth Century Fox has confirmed that the film adaptation of Max Payne has already began production.
The article cites the Hollywood Reporter, stating that the film is being developed in cooperation with Collision Entertainment and Firm Films and is said to be a "Dirty Harry-style film with a storyline focusing on Max Payne's history and origins."
"I think this is a real actor's part because although the story will have action and intrigue, at its core, it's a story about a man who loses everything in live that's dear to him," said co-producer Scott Faye.
Elaborating on a game to screen adaptation, Faye also said "unlike a novel, video games by nature leave gaps in the story, which allows filmmakers an opportunity to flesh out the story and fill those holes in a meaningful way.
The second video game to film adaptation announced by 20th Century Fox recently -- the first was for a Hitman adaptation starring Vin Diesel -- it is still unknown who will be directing the film, or who will be portraying the title character.
