Nintendo announced its plans today for the release schedule for the Nintendo DS. In an unprecedented move for the company, the system will actually be available in the US before it hits shelves in Japan. It will be available November 21st in the US, and December 2nd in Japan. A European release will likely follow at the beginning of next year.
The Nintendo DS looks to offer a unique set of capabilities when it releases to the market. Featuring two screens (one of which has touch screen capabilities), the Nintendo DS will also have processing power comparable to that of the Nintendo 64. The system will also feature a microphone for voice recognition technology, along with wireless networking capabilities. DS will retail for $149.99 in the US, and ¥15,000 in Japan.
