THQ today announced that Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War has reached gold status. The game is, of course, based upon the popular table top strategy game Warhammer 40,000 from Games Workshop. Developed by Relic Entertainment (creators of the acclaimed Homeworld and its sequel) Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War is scheduled to begin shipping to retailers worldwide on September 20.
"Dawn of War delivers the most visceral front-line combat ever depicted in an RTS game," said Ron Moravek, general manager of Relic Entertainment. "We are confident that the visually stunning, epic battles create a distinctive and totally accessible RTS experience."
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War is a RTS game that will feature a single player campaign eleven missions long, where the players will fight on the side of the Space Marines. There will also be extensive multiplayer options where you can play as the three other races featured in the game: the Eldar, the Orks, and the Chaos Space Marines. Unfortunately, those wanting the play the Tau, the Tyranids, the Necrons, or any number of the other varied armies in the Warhammer 40k universe will have to wait for an expansion of some sort.
