In store computers at Electronics Boutique are now taking preorders for the PSP at a price point of $299.99.
Although no official pricing has been released for the Playstation Portable, this is the first promising news on the actual price of the new hardware. The price continues to be batted around by industry executives on almost a daily basis with rumors from publishers and others that the handheld will fetch up to and including $500.
Other industry professionals are predicting that the PSP will be in the $299 price range, which leads to the assumption, does EB know something the rest of us don't.
The PSP has been hyped as the Walkman of the 21st century and is slated for a release overseas by the end of the year, with a release in the U.S. sometime in March.
