Nintendo revealed today that it has bought 1.28 million shares in Japanese toy maker Bandai, giving the company a 2.6 percent stake. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but according to a Reuters report the shares came from a Bandai shareholder who was offered to sell them to Nintendo. Bandai said that the company already has a working relationship with Nintendo and that today's news should affect that relationship in any significant way. Bandai makes a number of popular toys including Gundam, Ultimate Muscle, Hello Kitty, Strawberry Shortcake and Power Rangers. The company also has a videogame division that has produced a number of game titles for the GameCube and Game Boy Advance including Ultimate Muscle: Legends vs New Generation, Digimon BattleSpirit, and Digimon BattleSpirit 2.

No Nintendo doesn't own Bandai.
