A while back at E3, Sony announced that they would soon be shipping an upgraded PlayStation 2 that contained the following:
*Support of most types of recordable and rewritable DVD formats, including DVD-R, DDV-RW, DVD+R, and DVD+RW.
*Removal of the FireWire port
*A progressive scan DVD player
* quieter fan and improved cooling system.
The system, however, has since been absent from store shelves. Sony announced today at Sony Gamers Day that that they plan on shipping the newly upgrades system within the month.
