Microsoft has announced that it will release the PC version of Halo: Combat Evolved, its best-selling sci-fi action game for the Xbox, in summer 2003. The game, which was created by Bungie Software, will be developed for the PC by Gearbox Software, the studio behind the upcoming Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 for the PC, and several Half-Life expansions. A Macintosh version of the game will be developed by Westlake Interactive and released by Destineer in 2003. Both the PC and the Macintosh versions of the game are expected to feature a number of improvements on the Xbox version, including enhanced multiplayer capabilities. The multiplayer modes of both computer versions of the game will also be compatible so that PC and Macintosh users will be able to compete head-to-head online. Halo is set in a futuristic world. Players assume the role of a powerful cyborg soldier that must help Earth defense forces fight off an invasion of aliens, known as The Covenant, which are seeking a mysterious artifact. The game was launched in November 2001 and sold more than 1 million copies by early April.

Don't worry, MS always has something up their sleeves. Halo 2 will most likely be released three months after the release of Halo PC.
