Atari announced today its numbers for the fiscal year of 2004, with annual revenues reaching $468.9 million, down from $534.2 million from the previous year, partially due to the company's decision to release a "lighter" selection of titles as well as the delay of their upcoming game DRIV3R.
Despite the lower revenues, Atari did comment that the company is planning on strongly supporting both Sony's PSP handheld system, as well as Nintendo's DS system. According to Atari CEO Bruno Bonnell, Atari is shooting for "several launch titles" to be released when Sony's handheld hits the market, but gave no word on how many titles the company is planning for the launch of the Nintendo DS.
Interestingly, Bonnell also announced that the company is already in the development process on games for the next generation of consoles, although he didn't disclose exactly what games were being worked on, or for what system. Also, fans of The Matrix will be happy to hear that Atari is currently working on two additional The Matrix games, but gave no details on what they were or what platform they would release on.
