Nintendo of Japan announced today that the GameCube in that country will soon get a few changes.
First of all, for those concerned with money, the GameCube's price will now include tax, meaning that if you are in Japan and purchase the system, you won't have additional tax charges applied to your buy.
Secondly, the Japanese Gamecube will have its D-Terminal removed. The D-Terminal originally was used for " digital" video out, but the new systems will have this feature consolidated with the multi-port output used for composite video and stereo audio (for those who use the standard hookup to a television). Also, Nintendo will release a new component video cable that will conform to this setup, as the old D-Terminal cables will not be compatible with the new change.
Lastly, Nintendo announced that the new models of the GameCube will not feature interchangeable plates at the top of the system. US gamers probably haven't had much exposure to this feature, but many games in Japan have released special plates that could be swapped for the original one that shipped with the Cube.
