Electronic Arts finally let the cat out of the bag as today they announced that they are officially working on GoldenEye 2, the follow-up to the immensely popular FPS that appeared so many years ago on the N64.
While fans of the series are most likely jumping around the room at this point, EA did point out that the game may not be quite what everyone is thinking. In fact, they say that the game will allow gamers to take part in "the dark side of the Bond underworld." The game opens with the player having been kicked out of the MI6 for excessive brutality, and swiftly being hired by Auric Goldfinger.
EA's John Riccitiello commented briefly to Reuter's about the style of the new game. "We've been working kind of in secret for over a year to try and build a product that meets the expectations consumers have," he said. "It's a violent story-driven shooter. This isn't the same debonair kind of Bond we've been building for the last couple of years."
